The Richard Wilkie - Band Booster
Senior Scholarship Award
For MWHS Band & Guard Seniors

The Magnolia West High School Band & Color Guard Booster Club established the Senior Scholarship Award program in memory of its former band director, Richard Wilkie, husband of Mrs. Wilkie.  Besides being a band director, Mr. Wilkie had a great love of music and this scholarship award program is how we honor him.

In 2014 the scholarship program was created in his remembrance.  Funds are raised yearly through various fundraising opportunities (Christmas Auction, school supported volunteer opportunities and other fundraisers) and given specifically to senior band & guard students in honor of Mr. Wilkie and through these awards his memory lives on.

Each year senior students submit a scholarship packet to the scholarship committee, the committee is made up of non-senior band and guard parent volunteers.  Essays and list of accomplishments are anonymously sent or given to our panel of judges, panel of judges consist of M.I.S.D. Staff and Administrators outside of the MWHS Band and Guard teaching staff. After scoring each entry, scores are tallied by the scholarship committee and based on averaging out overall scores, scholarships are awarded.
